Coptic Style Binding

Regular price $145.00 USD

Coptic Style Binding has been a constant at Kuro’s Workshop over the years and continues to be a cornerstone of our teaching program. This new version builds on the familiar exposed spine structure, offering a larger format and more refined materials for a more substantial finished book.

Students will sew a book using high-quality paper, with covers that are prepared in advance and incorporated into the sewing process. Because the spine remains exposed, the work rewards steady sewing, but there’s also a satisfying rhythm that develops as the book takes shape.

This class is well suited to students who enjoy working with their hands and appreciate the quiet focus of hand sewing. It works well as a standalone project and also supports future binding work by deepening an understanding of how structure, scale, and materials influence the final book. Participants leave with a finished piece that feels durable, and enjoyable to use.
